Sustainability

We are very aware of the impact that we play on the environment and spend time researching this area to assure our customers that the role we play is sustainable and has less of an affect on the environment than plastic alternatives.

In order to ascertain the sustainability of any given material it is important to take a holistic look into every aspect involved. When comparing like for like the actual background can highlight some less obvious issues with plastic alternatives.

"Timber is the most sustainable building product available. It is naturally renewable, over 97% of softwood timber used in the UK comes from Europe, where the forest area is increasing by the equivalent of three football pitches every hour of the day and night"

According to Greenpeace "As long as timber is sourced from properly managed forests...timber windows are by far the best environmental choice" (Greenpeace Briefing: Installing New Windows 1997).
